JOINT PRESS RELEASE – Kosovo Police and the Tax Administration of Kosovo conduct joint activities under the international operation “JAD Global Chain 2026”

Kosovo Police, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET), Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK) and the Labour Inspectorate, conducted joint activities during the period 8–12 June 2026 under the Operational Plan “Joint Action Days – JAD Global Chain 2026”, organized within the framework of EMPACT activities and led by EUROPOL, INTERPOL and Frontex.

This international operation involved all Member States of the European Union, the countries of the Western Balkans, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Vietnam, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, the Member States of AMERIPOL, Nigeria and Panama. Austria, Romania and Frontex served as the leaders of this action.

In the course of this operational plan, a range of activities were carried out, including operations in streets, squares and shopping centers aimed at identifying children in street situations as potential victims of trafficking in human beings; joint operations with inspectors from the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET), the Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK) and the Labour Inspectorate to inspect venues offering live music and massage centers; as well as the implementation of tactical plans related to escort services.

Results of the joint activities from a tax perspective

During the joint inspections conducted by the teams of the Tax Administration of Kosovo, Kosovo Police, MIET and the Labour Inspectorate, a total of 79 business entities were inspected from a tax perspective, with a focus on compliance with tax legislation and the formalization of the economy.

During these activities, the fulfillment of tax obligations, the use of Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs), the issuance of fiscal receipts, the declaration of employees, and compliance with other provisions of tax legislation were verified.

The inspections established that some entities were compliant with their legal obligations, while in a number of cases irregularities were identified, including failure to possess an Electronic Fiscal Device, failure to issue fiscal receipts, undeclared employees and other violations. The Tax Administration of Kosovo has undertaken the relevant legal actions in relation to these findings.

Summary report of inspections:

  • 79 business entities inspected;
  • 50 entities equipped with Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFD/EFS);
  • 27 entities not equipped with EFDs;
  • 2 entities with no data on the status of EFD equipment;
  • 43 entities issued fiscal receipts;
  • 33 entities did not issue fiscal receipts;
  • 3 entities with no data regarding the issuance of fiscal receipts;
  • 94 undeclared employees were identified during the inspections.

Kosovo Police and the Tax Administration of Kosovo remain committed to continuing their joint activities, in cooperation with local institutions, with the aim of combating the informal economy, trafficking in human beings, tax evasion and any other form of unlawful activity, while ensuring law enforcement and the protection of the public interest.
