The General Director of the Tax Administration of Kosovo, Ilir Murtezaj, together with his colleagues, received the representatives of the International Monetary Fund, Mr Frank van Brunschot and Mr Jim Sorensen, at the closing meeting.
At this meeting, IMF representatives highly appreciated the progress achieved by the Tax Administration, where, among other things, emphasis was placed on the results of the international ISORA survey, according to which, the Tax Administration in 7 out of 8 indicators is higher than developing countries, and in 5 out of 8 indicators is above the average of developed countries.
According to the International Monetary Fund, TAK has made significant progress in establishing a functional tax system, building institutional capacity, and strengthening strategic planning, compliance risk management, and the core functions of the Tax Administration. Revenue collection, both in value and as a percentage of GDP, shows a continuous upward trend.
The Tax Administration is committed to the path of continuous improvement, in collaboration with its international partners to achieve the mission of a modern, risk-based, data-driven and taxpayer-focused tax administration.
The Director of the Tax Administration said that this assessment by the IMF is proof of our commitment to a transparent, fair and efficient administration. He assured the IMF that ATK will continue to work with dedication to meet taxpayer expectations and contribute to the country’s economic development.
IMF representatives congratulated TAK for its commitment and concrete results achieved, underlining the importance of an effective tax administration in the country’s economic development. They expressed their readiness to continue support in main areas. At the same time, they have advised TAK on future reforms and the preparation of a capacity development plan for the implementation of reforms in 2025.
