Corruption is a major challenge for many countries and institutions; however, the Tax Administration of Kosovo has made continuous progress in maintaining and increasing public trust to this institution. This was made possible by strengthening the mechanisms and reforms in key processes of TAK, such as accountability, automation of work processes, as well as implementation of over 40 activities planned under the Integrity Improvement Plan 2021-2023.
The assessment of this issue has been reflected in the publication of the UNDP report “Public Pulse Brief XXIV”, where it is emphasized that the perception of people on corruption in Tax Administration of Kosovo has decreased from 35.30% (as it was in May 2019) to 21.20%. This reflection is as a result of improvement of transparency and decision-making processes, reduction of the human factor effect, measures to prevent conflicts of interest, staff education and sanctioning, etc.
Additionally, the involvement of civil society and international partners helped in strengthening the monitoring mechanisms and fight against corruption. This continuous effort is an indicator of the commitment of the Tax Administration to a more transparent and fair society.
This report provides findings on key indicators regarding people’s perceptions on socio-economic, security, environmental and political issues. Opinion polls are conducted twice a year and reflect the opinion of over 1,300 respondents over 18 years old in Kosovo.
