Notice to taxpayers – TAK digitized the Tax Residency Certificate

Dear taxpayers,

The Kosovo Tax Administration informs you that, on January 1, 2024, it will publish the new version of the EDI Electronic System, through which a new electronic service will be provided, namely the issuance of a Tax Residency Certificate – TRC.

 

The Tax Residency Certificate is an official document that confirms the residence of an individual or business for tax purposes. This document is essential for:

• Elimination of double taxation for taxpayers who earn income abroad;
• Enabling tax incentives in international relations, especially with countries with which Kosovo has Double Taxation Agreements (DTAs) in place;
• Recognition and respect for the tax rights and obligations of Kosovo taxpayers in other countries.

 

This new electronic service aims to facilitate procedures for taxpayers, providing a faster and more efficient way to obtain a Tax Residency Certificate.

 

To apply for a Tax Residency Certificate online, you must follow the following steps:

1. Access the official TAK website: atk-ks.org;
2. Click on the “EDI – Electronic Declaration” button;
3. Register as a business or individual
4. In the “Services” menu, select “Electronic Forms – Request for Certificate of Residency”;
5. Complete the application form for a Tax Residency Certificate, providing the requested information;
6. Submit the application and wait for confirmation in your email.

 

Your application will be analyzed by officials of the International Cooperation Division at TAK, and if the documentation is complete, you will receive the Tax Residency Certificate to your email address.
